MatPit Farm is a family owned farm established in 2019 at Baruting, Sehlabeng-sa-Thuathe, Berea, Lesotho.The farm produces both livestock and crops, which perfectly complement each other such that the farm never experiences wastage. Waste from livestock production serves as organic manure for crops production and crops that are not fit for the market serve as food for the livestock. The intergrated nature of the farm ensures efficiency and optimum utilisation of all resources on the farm
Started with 1000 hens. Expanded to 6200 hens with SADP support and now grown to capacity of over 20 000 hens wit capaciity to produce over 650 trays daily at 90% productivity level. To comply with biosafety rules, chicken houses have staff chnge rooms, fitted with morden alution facilities to ensure good hygiene and biosafety standards.
Vegetables: cabbages(red and green), Kale, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Robot Peppers, Baby Marrows, Brocoli and CauliflowerApples Orchad: We currently have 3000 apple trees consisting of Galas and Granny Smiths.First harvest is expected 2026/2027
The enterprise is still at infancy stage with 8 dairy cows and 1 calf
